Adolescent Care

Adolescence is an important time for exploration, identity formation and building meaningful relationships. My approach to treatment makes room for the adolescent to be themselves as they try different selves on. I work to facilitate an experience where the adolescent can explore feelings, thoughts and behaviors and come to their own conclusions on what are healthy, adaptive and satisfying life experiences. The transition to adulthood is not far away; learning how to take on the privilege of increased responsibility is often an area of focus. Similarly, so is self-esteem, expression of self, decision making and interpersonal connections. Periodic family sessions can also be helpful to address the adolescent's role in family relationships or to "troubleshoot" a specific issue.

A well-matched working relationship is important to successful therapy. If you think we may be a good fit to work with one another, feel free to call me at 773.245.6358 or email me at [email protected] to set up a time to talk. I offer a 15 minute complimentary phone consultation. This phone call is used to assess the goodness of fit of a therapeutic match, not for treatment or diagnosis. If we find that we are not a good fit at the end of this phone call, I will give you referrals of therapists that might be a better match for you.
